About The Rock (Dwayne Johnson)

Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born in Hayward, California on May 2nd, 1972 to Rocky and Ata Johnson. Both his father and his maternal grandfather, Chief Peter Maivia, were professional wrestlers in the WWF. As a boy, Dwayne frequently traveled with his parents to watch his father perform in the ring. In high school, however, Dwayne played football and received a full ride to the University of Miami where he was a superstar on the team. But in 1995, Dwayne suffered a back injury that cost him a spot in the NFL. He tried the Canadian League, but left after a year to pursue a wrestling career. He ran through a series of monikers - Flex Kavanah, Rocky Maivia - before assuming the persona of The Rock. Besides his many wrestling accolades, The Rock has several film roles to his credit, including "The Scorpion King." At age 24, The Rock became the youngest Intercontinental Champion in WWF history, and is the first ever seven time WWF Champion. He married Dany Garcia in May 1997; Uliuli Fifita (Haku) stood as Best Man. Dany and Dwayne have one child, a daughter named Simone Alexandra, born in 2001.
